The nether will be removed and replaced on the 24th of this month. Keep a close eye on the timer widget on the right of the website.

Are you getting tired of wondering around the nether and hitting your head on random beams of dirt? Are you sick of seeing towers of flimsy cobblestone sticking out of pools of hot molten lava? Does it sicken you knowing most of the blaze spawners are taken and you don’t get a look in? If this is you, then look no further!

We here on the MassiveCraft team have interviewed some players and evaluated the nether as a whole. We’ve looked at the poor scenery, which has been destroyed by the many thousands of players drifting through the fiery lands of the nether, digging tunnels and pouring water on the lava to navigate through the thick fog of ash clouds, and towers that don’t look appealing to anyone. We’ve thought about the amount of spawners that have been hogged by any one player, which is up to 3-4 at a time. With Mojang finally implementing nether warts to grow in over-worlds, you need not worry about your mountains of farms being lost for ever. But, we digress.

The nether will be reset with a new seed on the 24th of this month (November), at no given time. This will mean you will lose your farms, your spawners, your nether bases and all the other items you don’t move. On the plus side, when we re-open the new nether, we will have wither skeletons enabled, plenty of brand new un-griefed spawners scattered across the harsh lands of the nether, and most importantly, cake will be waiting on the other side of the portal.

We look forward to seeing you there, bring a drink with you, cake can become a bit dry in such heated circumstances!

Actually it was me who pushed for this very much so ;-) But yeah, I agree. It should have been done a while ago.

This is not terrain control btw.

Um… I feel the same about Ceardia. This is far, FAR worse, however.

Please tell me the new nether won’t be as laggy…

Too bad, I put a lot of work into the nether already. If only the chunks closest to the spawn were just regenerated, because most of the nether is still untouched! You just need to travel farther out.

Also, make the spawn land in the nether larger so there is less grief.

You know what sucks…as soon as this happens everyone is going to just run in and destroy it again.
