We distinguish 3 different “types” of races during implementation. The first type is a class 1. Class 1 races are purely intended as roleplay aid. They have simple buffs or debuffs and aren’t really meant to add anything gameplay wise. The current races of this class are the Humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, undead etc. The second type is class 2, the gameplay changing race. These races are technically meant only to facilitate more unique forms of roleplay, but in practice turn out to be complete gameplay changing races. Playing as one of these races will change your overall Minecraft experience. Examples are the Maiar and the Agni which are still being made. The third type is class 3, just a generally “cool” race. In class 3 races alot of attentiona and time was spent to make the race very fancy and give it very detailed traits and functions. Because of the time and effort investment into this class of races, we have opened the discussion on whether we should make class 3 races premium only. We only have one vague concept of a stonegolem race with all kinds of fancy functions.
We see many suggestions on the forum which have all kinds of wild stories and large list of traits, but realistically we must reject 98% of these suggestions since they are either overpowered or simply not possible with the current Minecraft code. We are going to consider removing negative traits on the class 1 races. It was never really intended to make orcs a counter to themselves and counterable by dwarves, it makes little sense in our lore, and creates a massive nerfed vacuum around orcs. Perhaps it would be better to simply give class 1 races a 20% bonus on something, or even a 10% bonus. If we consider only a 10% bonus we might have some room to create a classes plugin.
Expect some regular patching to races in the coming days, and perhaps even some racial resets. This plugin was only made a couple of days ago and the only way to perfect it is to use it on the server and use provided feedback in improvements.

Another way to consider giving bonuses is to give skill bonuses. A +100 skill bonus ends up being about 20%, but doesn’t become overpowering as skill increases. If you don’t use any negatives for races, then finding some way to add a bonus to humans, i.e. +10 to every skill, or specialized classes to choose a skill to raise, would be nice to balance play.
Perhaps a page could be set up on the website to hold skins for the races that people could use, until they find/make one of their own.

1 thing this isnt my rp skin this is my casual skin and im saying this dont make races premium, that reminds me to much if World of Warcraft yes i have played wow but anyway listen to me if you want to rp as a race and you have to pay to do it then it defeats the rp purpose you shouldnt make people be forced to donate to play as they please you should keep us able to be what we want to be and maybe there can be some certin advantages a race may have over another but im glad you care about not having it to unbalanced just…dont make us forced to pay to play as we want to play..it would cause alot of grief from people who dont have money to pay for premium and sorry if i sound retarded or am leaving out details, i just want that option open to people in the game so they dont have to pay to play the way they want to.

Secondly, if you are able to play minecraft on our server, you have already payed for minecraft? How?
If your parent’s have, ask them again (maybe a gift for birthday or christmas), if you have bought it with pay-safe, go to a store and buy such a card. Same is for Pay-pal (which we are using).
People who really, really aren’t able to donate at all, might have a friend here on massivecraft which would donate for them.
Thats not the point, it makes people not very happy when, after joining the server finding out that if they want to play a certin way or start a certin way ; for that matter they have to pay money for that option especially when for some people its like 30 dollars a month. Also it could cause indecision for some people cause they may not want to invest in massive if it isnt a thing they really do alot, it’s just not worth it to donate for alot of people who are casual players on massive yet still, when they play want to have the full experience.
p.s sorry for aruging a point but i’m very against having to pay for races/classes i gets you need money but it not worth it man not worth it O_O
Premium is only 7,80 dollars pr. month.

I’d definitely buy premium… But it requires paypal. And if you don’t have a bank account paypal doesn’t think you exist. So visa gift cards don’t work. :p
Well, I do understand your point.
But you have to understand this one here:
You are professional coder, do this to earn your living. A class 3 race takes you three days of coding. Now take a good payment per month and divide it by 10 ( 30/3 ).
Now….that’s a bunch of money he looses…. Cay is a professional coder, showing him that we appreciate the time he spends by donating is a good way.
I’m moderator, I’m not supposed to donate money. But I Do, because I know how much work it is. And I’m thankfull.

If your considering making class 3 races only for premium I think a cool idea would be to make a “vampire lord/ queen” that are slighty better then normal vampires. ie..take more hits from wooden objects, regenerate a little faster, infect other players x2 fast….etc!
I was even thinking if you added magic or spells that you could have a Necromancer race that summons skeletons and/ or zombies….
Just throwing ideas!
Please take any kind of race suggestion to the forum. We have a seperate part for that :)

You guys should NOT add premium only races. You already have enough premium advantages as is, why should you add more? It almost makes it have a pay to play feel, like I know that WoW has for some things… And is that really what you guys want?
And, I have an idea;
For vampires, we could have a rank system base on how long you have been on the site. So people who have been on the server since the beginning would have a better edge. Sort of a thank you for being on the server that long. Plus, it would add a bit more perks for Vampires/Humans. Like Syverus said, resistance against wood and sparkling water and stuff.
Also, an ability to day walk might be cool. Just saying.

Well, if you need a class 3 race for premz only, my Sadeir (with all their pluses and minuses) would have fit that bill fairly well. As they are now they are a Class 2 I think.
I do like the tier system you have with Class 1, 2, and 3. Also, I don’t think there should be any ubervamps (Sorry Syverus).
I would love to see the axes become less overpowered. To almost every race, they take extra damage from axes. (And in many occasions, swords.) With axes being able to already do extra ‘raw’ damage, it would be plain foolish to give them twenty percent more damage on top of that. This all could equate out to instantly killing an armored player with a single hit.
Axes get benefits twofold, from both races and MCmmo. If this could be fixed, I think it would be more balanced.

even tho im staying human, i gotta agree with this, axes do a godly amount of damage as it is, i dont feel there is a need to make races weaker to them

The reason why axes seem overpowered is because you cannot enchant them like the other Weapons. if a guy with a sharpnesss 5 sword fights agains a high axes guy, the swordsguy would win, if they add fire aspect to the weapon aswell, there is not much left on the axeguy.
and btw did you know that there are already people that can oneshot a player iwth diamond armor with their high bow skill? however, it wont be possible for an exesfighter to achieve that

Premium races…
Not all of us are rich. Think about the advantages already given to Premiums.
They are set up as perfect griefers. They dont need anything else. They use their ability for other reasons, but I hear from this one the most. Whats the fun of taking out a guy in Diamond Armor, and only getting a sword? I’m sorry if this just sounds like complaining, but I prove a logical point. There shouldn’t be another advantage to the already overpowering “rank.” Please, find another way to make the tier 3 races rare. Premium only is going to far.

Stop bitching. Premium is only 8$? a month. You don’t have to be rich to get premium. Go mow the lawn or something.
He has a fair point, premiums are rather overpowered and some people dont want to waste money on a single minecraft server. I know massive is awesome but us people out there who dont want to have to buy premium to play the way we want to. P.S you should refrain from such brash responses not to be rude, but it makes you seem more sensible if you explain your reasoning :D

First: everyone WHO dislike races, just stay human.
Second: everyone WHO dislike premium races, remember player is normal minecraft and premium just gives perks. I am NOT premium but i fully support premium races. Because i know that the server needs money to run. And cay needs money for food.
i think the maiar race should have aqua affinity so they can mine under water as well, and it should change your food level based on how long out of water or in water instead of at intervals. that or you can drink like a water bucket or plain water potion to refill food bars
Maybe maiar should have, as hotshot said, aqua affinity underwater. Also, I think that night vision (only while submerged) could make it seem more realistic because fish can see that well underwater.

okay so I used to be a maiar… best minecraft experience ever.. I could swim along canals and people passing by would look at me weird because I was swimming so fast and everything in the game was just made a lot funner and more challenging because I had to constantly find water to live. Then one day I got on the server and it said “kicked whilst connecting, you are banned: no reason specified” and I think a part of my soul died that day.
anyways I have NO idea why I was banned and if I really did do something wrong could I at least know what I did?
