Factions

Cayorion: Coded and upgraded Factions to version 2.0.0. This is a dev version meaning we are not done yet. There will be more changes. There will also be bugs. Please tell us in the comments if you find any bugs.

  • Most importantly compatible with our upcoming sharding system.
  • Renamed /f show,who to /f f,faction and improved the command.
  • Renamed /f power,pow to /f p,player and improved the command.
  • Faction age visible in /f f.
  • Players power start at 0. You get 2 power per hour and -2 power per death.
  • Premium players has double max power and regen speed.
  • Monsters can spawn and attack in faction land.
  • Switched argument order for /f claim [radius=1] [faction=you]
  • Trapped chests, hoppers and droppers are now protected in faction land.
  • Faction features are completely disabled outside the medieval universe.
  • More stuff I can’t remember …

Community

  • LordDan1989, ulumulu1510: Updated the Massivecraft Texture-Pack to MassiveCraft-Medieval-V15.2. This Pack is smaller in file-size and thus compatible with the future online download on the live server.
  • ThortunaUpdated the current ingame announcements and added new ones.
  • Ninjabaver: Made a logotype for MassiveBooks.
  • Cayorion: Created a texturepack command. Type /texturepack.
  • LordDan1989: Got promoted none → CM1

    Hmm, one question, what is the need for the power gain and loss? Is this for further updates of Factions 2.0 or, just there?

      No, conquering land from other factions is still disabled.

    My other issue is with mobs spawning inside faction territory. We run a vampire kindred. We’ll have to light the place up to keep the daywalkers safe.

    This totally ruins the mood lighting. Like we don’t have a ton of people walking around as failpires as it is, now everyones going to want to be one to stop being annoyed by mobs.

    How are we supposed to have a rich variety of races to rp as if everyones going vamp for silly reasons? Why not make the mob spawning in faction areas optional?

    Ok also, another problem…zombies breaking faction doors. You know, i’m just going to say that this is making it less and less likely that I get a sub. I’ve been here a month or so and have really been considering it because of all the fun i’ve had here, but if we can’t keep mobs out of our faction if we choose to, there’s no way i’m putting up with that.

    Love the death thing. While it’s not super detrimental, it may decrease the amount of “LEEROY JENKINS!” fighters in battles.

      In the sense of always on the maximum, no.

    Is the max player power still at 10? Does the player power reset to 0 if they join another faction?

      The Max-power for a normal player is still at ten, it will decrease with death and increase with being on the server.

      You leaving or joining another faction does not have any impact on your power.

    I routinely spawn below the spawn points or appear below my medieval bed, dieing in a wall. If this now has such consequences I am not happy.

      You can claim your darkrooms now, which was one of the reasons we enabled it. With that, you can ensure noone breaks in or destroys it, like other buildings.

        Therefore shouldn’t mob spawning in faction land be optional for the many factions that are non darkroom users.

        Personally i wish this was able to be set in certain areas, like the same way you claim faction land, i like them spawning in some places but not all

          This will not be possibly, flags are set per faction (or faction type) and not like f access that is set by chunks.

    I like the idea of a protected dark room now, but the only thing I don’t like is the timers for factions all being at the same but I honestly see why it couldn’t be done. Would be nice to know how long some of the older factions have been around and being able to show people proof of it.

    Problem with being unable to change faction permissions, I have heard others having this same problem while some can change them, this is a serious complication. Also, it seems the access command works differently, has it become case sensitive? I also agree with other who really wish we can have control of some of the flags for our factions, in particular mob spawning. Many very nice builds depend on lighting effects, particularly “evil” looking interiors. Having to rebuild using half slabs or spamming light everywhere really destroys these creations. A head up regarding the mob spawning changes would have been nice to prepare for it or at least a quick word at this point regarding the possibility of future access to the flag for it would settle the uncertainty for many.

      I know that cayorion is reworking the access command anyways right now, but for the very moment it is case-sensitiv.
      EDIT: It should be fixed once the newest dev version is online.

      The f perm error is known and will get fixed soon.

      For the flags, the mob spawning flag is one of many and it is not possible to give people the permission to edit one of them atm. I wouldn’t know if this is the plan of cayorion to add this, so I cannot fully answer you regarding this question/request.
