From this post onwards within 24 hours we will remove all Item Frames from Regalia. This means that on Tuesday may 14th 7:00 GMT, all Item Frames in Regalia will be removed regardless of their content or location.

We are removing Item frames to boost Framerate performance in Regalia, especially so since the performance loss from the Merchant district had grown to become unacceptable for a region so vital to new players and the economy.

Thank you, I’ve been waiting for this a long time.

Glad to hear the district is being used a lot. (I don’t play much ingame anymore but I still watch the community.)

I understand that you’re trying to help, but you just completely ruined my business, as well as any chances of libraries in Regalia. Couldn’t you remove the item frames only in the merchant district where they are so overused?

I hope they will make exceptions, I love going to your bookstore, and hope that you can still keep it open.

I agree, I hope they will make an exception for libraries and book stores.

Yeah, your bookstore is brilliant Wizered, I recommend it to any one looking for a good read. Yeah, what is the point of MassiveBooks if you can’t even sell them in Regalia?

Thanks guys, I’ve stored all the item frames for safe keeping so that I still have all the books. I do hope that an exception could be made for books, but I doubt it. If item frames are removed, I’ll try to find a new innovative way to sell books :)

With the introduction of sharding, is it possible that item frames will be allowed back in the market? Or is that not expected to make enough of a difference?

    • Cayorion 2013-05-14 at 07:20

Sharding does not improve the client computer. The “lag” in Regalia is actually not “lag” per definition. It is an FPS drop caused by your computer having a too weak graphics card or rather the minecraft client 3D rendering algorithm being to non optimized. It has nothing to do with server TPS.

      • Errant_Architect 2013-05-14 at 07:40

Bummer, and here I was hoping it was just a server side processing bottleneck. Too bad we can’t all have top-of-the-line computers.

I have 2 video cards with 1 gig of video memory, a penta core and 16 gigs of ram, and I get 5 fps in the merchant district. It has nothing to do with my computer but with the non optimized code of Minecraft itself.

This is great news! People dont go to Regalia right now becourse they think it is to laggy, this will improve business for the whole city :)

    • igel_son 2013-05-14 at 11:40

And yea, i have a i5 Ivy bridge, GTX660, 8gb ram and i go from 130 fps in Minecraft to about 10 in merchant district, it is horrible…
