Recently we have received alot of complaints about people abusing the method of /autoclaim and then /unclaim areas in between two claimed parts to separate these. This used to be allowed in limited measure to facilitate people building outposts and legit double cities beyond their main base, but it has suffered some heavy abuse, in Ithania in particular. The two cases below show what we refer to.
The first method we call shotgun claim, is just a farce people are using to hide behind the 10 chunk claim distance rule. When you don’t have the claim power to do this large land claim, simply don’t do it. People having done this will be contacted by a staff at some point.
The second method we call spiderweb claim. This claim method people again abuse to claim a larger area of land that they don’t have the power to hold. These people will also be contacted by staff members at some point.
Take note that the land in question which is offending (usually branches of the area around home) will not be considered part of their actual land by server staff. If you claim right next to this land (as long as it is 10 chunks away from their heartland) they cannot report you for breaking a rule. You may in fact report them for having a bad land claim or attempting to abuse the system for their gain.
We accept usage of the /autoclaim /unclaim method in the following circumstances:
- Secondary bases that are being used
- Legit roleplay reason or event reason
- Raiding outposts (be careful it does not become a harassment outpost)
- Tactical resource harvesting outposts
Note that all the previous cases only count if the faction has 2 or more separated land claims in a world. If a faction only has 1 concentrated land claim per world, none of these rules apply. If however a faction owns 2 or more seperate land claims in one world, the largest land claim in size is considered the main “base” to these smaller secondary bases, different rules apply. These secondary bases are not subject to the 10 chunk rule from others side. This means you may not settle your secondary base closer then 10 chunks to others, but others may do this to your secondary base. Before you do this to someone however, always make sure you are not mistaken in primary or secondary bases.
If your /autoclaim and /unclaim line is being made, clean it up immediately afterwards. An admin may unclaim all this land without warning, we consider large line factions visual griefing of the dynmap.

Was worried when I first heard about these changes, but this seems reasonable.
I think I’m safe.
In fact you are not. your claims are way too spread out on the map in Ithania in my opinion.
I have a few bridges, a hill, and a bay claimed.. The jungle area by Osai I’m using to build a jungle village for some roleplay stuff soon. I will clean up the land claim lines, though.
Indeed. Those lines have been on the map for three days now tho. :(
I’ll get them first thing when I wake up tomorrow :v
Great update. now i can feel alot safer. we got alot of outposts where we chop wood and use the caves near the outpost :) Im glad this update came.
Serenum’s claims in Ithania are Role Play outposts, We use them for resources, a means of travel to Ithania, and (when they are finished) we hope to have some role play here.
Ill take screen shoots from dynmap, to secure my fac.
The Hermitage original claim is a relatively long line. This was done because factions claimed 16 chunks to either side of us, and our only expansion possibility was along a line. You are saying that when factions use the 16 chunk rule to limit another factions expansion ability you will further punish that faction?
I feel as if this rule is long over due in being redone. There are a ton of factions that I’ve dealt with that have cried foul when I’ve claimed land in a square but I’m to close to one of their “spider claims”. So I was forced to either have the mods step in or just move. Just hope this rule gets enforced and keeps getting enforced.
are we allowed to make new outposts and grow these to make a sort of mini-base?
Fixed, the spider webs should be gone.
Sorry about that, was kinda nervous about noobs making dirt
houses near my faction.
About 3 people have claimed within 16 chunks of me. My main base in Ellador, that is. Yet it would be wrong to move them because I had not realised it until much later. If I have proof I was where I am first, could all three factions that have already been settled in be relocated?
Like the title Mon
Ok. I have a base and yet, about 3 other factions have claimed around my faction without my being aware of. In the time I didn’t know, these three factions have tucked themselves in nice and cozy. I have proof that I was the first one there. Is there anyway to safely move said factions without there being too much dilemma?
