I’m working on a book plugin for us right now. It’s called MassiveBooks. The first beta version was just put live. Go ahead and test the plugin ingame. Read the full documentation here. Please speak your mind in the comments below. What features do you miss? What are the small usability issues that bug you?

A problem to report, if a book is in an item frame, clicking on the frame with a different written book in hand will overwrite the book in your hand, regardless of whether or not the book is locked, or by a different author.
Though the commands seem to all work fine. I can see my faction getting a lot of use out of this plugin!
Yes I made it that way on purpose. Perhaps a completely clear book and quill should be required? That way people would have to run “/book clear” more often but on the other hand the risk of overwriting a book by mistake would disappear. I will look more into this and it’s probably I will recode this feature slightly.
Best idea ever I really needed a way to copy my books!
*/book copy *
Any way for the creator of the book to be the only person that can make copies? Sort of like an author.
I guess there could be situations where you want only one instance of a book. It never struck my mind that an author would be against having their books copied and distributed to others. I will look into this.
Like the idea, but was wondering about two things.
1) Is the bounty system ever going to make a return? i’m not a premium so farming money off mobs takes forever and the bounties helped bolster my income.
2) When is MassiveCraft being updated to 1.5? I know it just came out and all, but my curiousity has over come me.
The bounty system was removed since people just got killed by their friends and then they split the money. Can you look for a bounty system that supports assigning a special assassin? That way the person ordering the hit could handpick a few enemies (as opposed to friends) to carry out the assasination?
I will update MassiveCraft within 1-7 days. It all depends on Bukkit getting stable enough and other developers updating their plugins.
This is so useful! I was thinking about writing some rp diaries and scattering them around the worlds and now I can make copies!
I copied a book and when I did /book clear I could no longer write in it. I don’t know if this was something wrong with the book or not but that didn’t work for me. It is an excellent idea and many people would benefit from this.
Interesting, I have this issue myself occasionally. Try flipping to second page and then back again. Doing so makes the book editable for me. I’m unsure whether this issue is a pure client issue or something caused by MassiveBooks.
Leather price will go to the stars for sure! yay :P
Anyway, i have not checked the plug-in yet but it seems to be really nice, we have a lot of libraries all around the world and we missed the books :)
Yeah go ahead and create your own library! The item frame library feature is not restricted to MassiveCraft team members or anything. Anyone can put books in item-frames.
I wanted to read Tom’s diary :(
XD I meant Cayorion’s
I actually don’t have a diary. I just thought of some random title so I could take a screenshot.
I tried to put Colors in my Book title and It says I don’t have permission. I think this is a glitch just letting you know.
I actually made that on purpose. I’m going to discuss this with the other team members today.
I’m sure I’ll have fun with this, although I don’t know what I’ll write. :P
Write something with colors: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Book_and_Quill
While once visiting Farria’s old server that tested some plugins for Massivecraft, she showed me a plugin where we could put books into bookshelves. I could right click on a bookshelf and it would bring up a small inventory that I could put books into.
Is it possible to make it so that it costs money to copy a book from a frame? So you can make a proper book shop.
Yes it would be cool if the author could set a price for others to copy the book. Maybe with a sign under the item frame.
You should make it so that whenever you write a book you can choose to sign it, this way people can tell if a book’s creator copied it and not some horrid person trying to make a quick buck.
Not sure if its already like this, but when you re-lock a book, it should update the author, If I sign my name to something I dont want it to be possible to change what I wrote, but keep my name on it.
