The Old Gods District brims with the feeling of days long passed.
Ironically a stone’s throw from the Church District, the area of the Old Gods is situated in the northwestern portion of Regalia. Typically a housing area for the pious folk of the faith the district is named for, the Old Gods District is an equally flickering flame akin to the dwindling amount of Alorians following the same-named faith.
Along the tattered roads, gypsies play their merry songs, and patrons reminiscing of the days of old. The flora and rustic feeling of the narrow streets is only surpassed by the tall and colourful houses lining them, standing hearty and ancient among a restless and changing city. Time stands still in this place, and if one were to walk by the various fountains and roadside market stalls, they’d feel the tranquility most long for from the once-popular religion. As mentioned, various stalls and small shops dot the expanse of the area, with quirky and enthusiastic merchants peddling their antiqued goods. The district is a bit of a task to reach, however, being a winding path through the park, the noble district, or even the church district to finally place your feet on the rugged cobbled roads.
Perhaps at one point, the place felt truly alive, and brimming with life and love. Though in past years, with the utter domination of the popular Unionist faith, the dying Old Gods religion shares many bridges with the district that still represents it. It’s scarce one would see a wanderer aimless toiling around the streets, or a gypsy dancing gracefully to the sound of cultural music. In days of years gone by, this might have been true, though it is no secret the nearly deserted Old Gods district is but a shell of its former self. However, do not lose all hope, for the folks who are persistent to see their home not neglected are diligent and proud people. When coming across someone in the colourful alleyways, it is inevitable an interesting and cultural person, full of the blood of conversation, awaits like a door anticipating being cracked open.
Overlooking the district with a withering eye of watchfulness, rests the Old Gods temple as well. A testament of time, the crumbling construct represents a religion of the past, yet preserved for any Regalian resident to use at their disposal. It’s truly a spectacle, the structure of stone and wood staying upright for long as can be, and is a metaphor in and of itself to the district it is included in. While old, and perhaps decaying, the Old Gods district is a gem waiting to be dusted off. The life of this district still exists, and only needs its faithful and persevering residents to take the first step.
IC-Setting:
- The Old Gods District is the home to colourful houses and rustic decor, and is relatively the most quiet of all the others.
- Guards do not frequent this area, yet due to the thinning population of it, crime doesn’t seem to be reported often from there.
- A majority of the residents of the area are religious folk, and the usual occupants of the streets are typically faithfuls of the Old Gods, and can be as colourful and interesting as their religion.
