As we are sure you all know by now, the controversial Minecraft 1.9 update has been released. It was released on the 29th of February. We have however not updated MassiveCraft yet and estimate it will take another 5 to 10 days before we do so.

We have not updated MassiveCraft yet because we run many different plugins on our server. Our own plugins such as Factions, MassiveMobs, MassiveTraits and CreativeGates are already fully working and up to date, however the external plugins made by other authors are not all ready yet and we must wait for them to be stable before we add them to the server to guarantee a pleasant playing experience.

If you have updated your client to 1.9 already, you may be having trouble with connecting to MassiveCraft. To connect to the server successfully, you will need to downgrade your Minecraft client to an 1.8.X version. To do this you can follow these simple steps:

  1. After opening your Minecraft launcher, navigate to the “Edit Profile” button.
  2. Find the “Use version” field and select a 1.8.X client version. (Such as 1.8.9 or any other 1.8)
  3. Click on “Save Profile” at the bottom right of the window.
  4. You should be able to connect to MassiveCraft now!

There have been many discussions about the changes update 1.9 will bring to PvP and general gameplay and it is feared by the community that many of the changes will not be for the better. To make sure the MassiveCraft experience will stay competitive and fun, we will not run Minecraft 1.9 as is. Below we describe the game mechanics we are going change or revert.

  • Attack Speed: We will remove the Minecraft 1.9 slow attack speed. Attacks will work like in Minecraft 1.8.
  • Attack Damage: We will revert weapon damages back to Minecraft 1.8 for the sake of gameplay balance.
  • Sword Swipe Attack: We will remove the swipe attack for the sake of gameplay balance.
  • Armor Durability: Armor protection will decrease as the durability decreases. This mechanic is too hard to patch. We will also remove the x3 armor durability buff and just bring the durability of other armor materials up to that of diamond armor.
  • Ender Pearls: We will keep our own cooldown which is slightly longer than vanilla.
  • Elytra Wings: We will add a custom crafting recipe to make this item. You will also be unable to use it when combat flagged.
  • God Apples: We will add a custom crafting recipe to make this item. They will be re enabled and part of PvP again.
  • Chorus Fruit: You will not be able to eat this item to teleport. A quest will be added to get hold of this item.
  • Dragon’s Breath and Lingering Potions: These will be unobtainable for now.

We hope this will ease your mind on the subject of the coming update and we are working very hard to make sure MassiveCraft stays fun for all of our players!

I don’t like this as the old combat system has always just been “spam click” oh well, nothing i can do about it

Will the elytra be lore compliant?
    Like dwarven engineering or something

I hope that they are able to make linggering potions obtainable this will enhance teamwork when in fights and medics who can actually do something. We still get the dual weild thing and the shield right? It would be awesome for rp and lore items if we had the shield. Mojang should make it so we can decorate the shield with coat of arms.

You can, I can’t remember how but I know its possible to put a banner on the front of shields.

I need help i have die and i can’t come to your sever anymore because the respawn button isn’t working and i tryed to log out and relog in but it didn’t work DX…

join the forums and then request a staff member to teleport you somewhere. also i think that the server will jail you automatically for using a xray resource pack, so using one then logging on may let you respawn

maybe decrease attack damage done to counteract the armor protection nerfing?

    Anything about the Arrows?

I would suggest using the new combat system as it is less spam and gives more skill to PvP
I’m not really sure why the swing speed would make it less balanced
It’s a new system sure but that doesn’t mean you should stick with the old. The new one brings a lot to the table in terms of new stuff but I would understand the problem with it being a little weird with mcmmo

      I totally agree with you.
