The teleportation system here on MassiveCraft just got an overhaul. The goal with the new system is to make the game a bit more challenging and to better match our “hard survival rpg” vision.
Changes
All player to player teleport commands are now removed.
So these commands was removed: /tpa /tpahere /tpaccept /tpdeny
Every player now have a bed-home. Your home is the bed you last right clicked. If that bed is destroyed your home will disappear. added: /home
The /f home command now have a 10 second delay just as all other teleportation commands.
From now on
These are all the teleportation commands and they all have a 10 second delay.
- /spawn
Teleport to the spawn.
- /home
Teleport to you home-bed. Won’t work if someone destroyed your bed.
Select a bed by right-clicking it. If it is day or night does not matter. - /f home
Go to your faction home. You must be in a faction for this work. - /warp
List all available warps - /warp [warpname]
Warp to one of the warps.

I have two problems with this:
Money.
We will no longer be able to tp to players and shop at their shops.
SOLUTION: Maybe a mall in SilverEdge?
Allies.
We will no longer be able to tp to ally events, ally areas, ally etc.
SOLUTION: I don’t have one ^_^
Yes this makes the game a bit harder and that is also the point. Manual old school travel is realistic ;-)
True, but I’ve actually been waiting for a chance to petition for a SilverEdge mall XD
Maybe paying for a shopspot? i just like the idea =P
You could buy 8 chunks in gold district and run that mall.
The whole of Silver Edge is a mall there are shops everywhere

Yea, people need to stop being lazy and actually get to know the layout of Silver Edge.
The place is filled with numerous shops. People are just too freakin’ lazy to look at the dynmap to spot a location or actually walk around.
well then make a road/portal in spawn for these ppl who wants to be visited?

Those should work. There are enough possible combinations for factions to use them in intricate ways.
What if raiders abuse beds to make people’s lives a living hell? (especially raiders who are premuims and thus give no craps about dying)

Making it so raiders can’t all just magically teleport to one vampire who flew over the walls you slaved to build is a lot more sensible.

i agree with eololar wat if your with a friend exploring and u die u need to teleport to them
oh ye, just like when you die in real life, and you just teleport back to your friends.

There will be a portal abuse this way, you can’t think people will really travel that far if you remove tpa xD
I think this new teleport commands will make the gameplay much harder, wich makes it funnier and more realistic. Now we have to build roads, canals and traderoutes! :D
Roads, canals… I honestly don’t think that will happen. Who will bother. Cool idea though.
I think erasing tpa is a bit too much, perhaps limit it more, but completely remove it… :(

You don’t think it will happen? Haven’t you noticed that there are roads and canals already? Travel over long distances doesn’t have to be boring.
Im making my roads more detailed, wich makes travelling more exciting :)
Erm… I have dug a canal almost all the way between us and Magenta, and that was even during the time tpa existed.
Yeah, and Werz (doesn’t exist anymore) also had a road to Magenta during the time tpa existed. :)
I built a road to Farmlands just for the sake of it a few weeks back. If my faction were closer to any others that we’re friends with, I would have done the same.
People need to not be hating on roads and canals.

And Magenta has a road all the way to spawn to! juuuust sayin ;)

I would also like to see some of these canals, would be good for boat travel and it is very fast. XD

ok for the raid,but what about when you are mining and you need to go to base for clean inv and then tpa to your ally that is mining?

I like it. It makes people actually have to travel and see the world. It prevents people from just warping in. It adds back an element of DIFFICULTY to the game. I also like beds because it gives everyone a home, a sense of self outside of the /f home. It makes the world bigger. I even like the delay on /f home, so that you can’t bail out of fights or save yourself from a fall or lava with a hotkey.
And you guys in Sentinels are allready found a good solution to travel without tpa!
Since the overhaul, I’ve been having trouble accessing the server on Spoutcraft. Anyone else having difficulty/success? Which build should be selected among the version 1.1 builds? Thanks in advance.
And I think the teleport overhaul sounds great, especially from a defensive mindset.

Well, I personally don’t like the removal of the tpa…
Here’s whats gonna happen: trade will crash outside of factions and Silver Edge. Beds will be destroyed. Greifing to break through walls will become the way to go. Factions will become more focused (AKA, one city and maybe a few outposts with portals) as they won’t be able to tpa to each other across the map.
Basically, everything will collapse.
Most factions already use portals because you dont always have a player to TP to
And of course now Massivecraft isn’t working right for me… I keep freezing up minecraft when I try to post something?
Tehehe, but now if you lock portals premiums can make money by allowing people to use them in a portal network :P
Next mod, lock the portals (or, erm, allow portal locking) like doors and chests and stuff.
Oh, someone needs to start an ideas blog for the users of Massivecraft to post ideas for future mods. Just to get some feedback and whatnot :) (has too many ideas and too much time on his hands)
I myself find the complete removal of TPA to be a bit much. On the old map there was a 5-10 minute cool down between times you could TP to another player. Maybe add that back? It allows people to gather and shop/raid/mine/build but also limits the attack of a raiding force. So I’d say add a cooldown to TPA from player to player and leave the warp system as is.
I do however LOVE the home bed. My hut was a bit aways from my F home and that walk was getting a bit annoying.
I agree with you, out. The 5 minute cooldown was good. Maybe have less of a cooldown between allied factions? Just a thought..
I like the no /tpa, it adds realism to the game.
I have a Suggestion. If I/Someone were to make a plugin that takes an enderpearl (an item or money) from you whenever the commands /tpa || /tpahere || /tpaccept || /tpdeny were used, would this be a considerable suggestion?

I suggested a cost to /tpa to Cay, but this would cause issues like, you get an error messege but it takes your money anyway

This is sad because of the effect it will have on social activities. brettgoss left his dog at bloodbaron‘s place. now he will never see oom again. :( There won‘t be any showcasing of buildings and community projects will be impossible outside of the spawn. I don‘t think this will build on rp it will just seperate players from the outside world. perhaps only factions or allies can tp?

I think that you should atleast eliminate the need of premium for making portals.

No. this is a premium feature and earns the server money. lots of people became premium just for portals. It would be ripping them off to make it for everybody.
yes i agree with this i was the 3 person in my faction to get premium just so i could make some portals because this was when we had a cool down to spawn and to do /tpa
same reason we can’t make premiums drop items on death.

But, what if the premiums dropped like 50% randomly of their inventory?
Lot of ppl tries to avoid premiums in combat, cause there is no reason to fight a player who has nothing to lose.
I have also noticed that after the removal of tp premiums suicides instead of using the other tp commands (/f home and /home), cause it is much faster to get home that way, and they wont lose anything on it.
I know they are paying good money to the server, but they are also to overpowered when they have nothing to lose.

I like the new change, but if we make roads/railways/canals they will be greifed like crazy
i agree and you cant claim them because that would take up to much power and it might make it so you cant travel because people could limit travel by preventing it.
I dont think people will do this. why bother? it will probably be cobble or something like that. if you want cobble go mine.
i see what you mean but what if some powerful faction whanted to stop people from traviling and blocked the roads and canals?

About griefing of roads. Magenta’s road to spawn has been around since the first week of 1.0. And we have experienced very little griefing. Only one time and about 10 blocks at the spawn border. Grief cobbleroad isnt that interesting i guess ;)
They’d have to claim the road in order to do that, and if they DO spend their claim on it, that’s their right.
Well, for the roads/rails/canals being greifed, perhaps they could be owned by a third party faction (like Silver Edge is) called “RRC” (Roads, Rails, Canals) which wouldn’t have a power limit and would make the roads unchangeable by others?
The problem with that is that nobody cares enough to grief roads. Its cobblestone with a smooth stone border or maybe wood…. nothing interesting to take lol
this change will suck at first, but in the long run, it’s good.
you want the server more realistic, remove mcmmo. however, you might lose a few premiums, and the money is nice, isn’t it?
MCMMO is awesome and adds to the gritty, unforgiving MMO feel though…
I agree on the removal of MCMMO or just balancing swords and axes beacuse axes are WAAAY over powerd. Swords should have a critical hit too.People say “its fair beacuse you can enchant swords” But who would risk going out fighting withe the swordthat you spent a few hours getting XP for

Why get rid of mcmmo? And axes are not overpowered, I can not win at all vs a Sword with sharpness and knockback. And even tho an axe may do more “crit (random)” instant damage,the swords bleed and serrated edge equal this out. So instead of changing axes, just change your tactics :)
Removing the MCMMO wouldn’t make the server more realistic.
i agree it would make it more vinilla like and but a way to get around that is to nerf the people that have like 700 levels in swords or axes cuz that way to over powered
MCMMO favors “veterin” players, maby a bit too much. We probably wont remove it, but making a “level cap” may be a good fix.
as for axes being over powered, they are tough to level up, because they are much weaker when you first start off, so players who get through that should have something to show for it.
idk why people cannot “donate” 6 euro per month,if all the user was premium i’m sure this server will be much funny and with more balance,it will be so sad if this server will be deleted or reduced cause people have fun to play but they cannot donate 6 euro.
I hope they will insert some tipe of class instead of just the normal vamp, something like hero path or other plugin

For me, premium is mostly for the people who loves PvP. And i dont. So i dont go premium, simple as that :P

I don’t play for PvP, Igel. I donate for premium because I genuinely enjoy this server. If you enjoy MassiveCraft, you should consider donating too… simple as that.
i agree with samurai,i dont pay premium for pvp,i pay for support cay work and for see the server got more and more upgrade ,i really hope this server one day will got 300 full slot and finally a goood rpg side with nation,nation wars,commerce and so other)

MCMMO is good. Server needs more admins. Hard enough to buy land in Spawn Town.
Yea, its a very noticeable drop in moderator activity. Some old moderators leaving there position also. But im sure they will fix it :)

I can make a forum page set up easy, And whats up with the no death drop thing? I kinda think its stupid if you set it to have no death drop because then there’s no fun in killing people and takes to much time to keep your stuff when you die. I hope its just a glitch that will be worked on soon.
agreed even though im premium its hard to see people im my faction lose there stuff when we get raided and stuff and i think it would be a good idea to tell us if this is a plugin that provents death drops or even if it was a glitch that needs to be fixed. now on a pvp point of view its takes all the fun out of raiding when you cant get stuff from non primuim if you kill them.
