Direction
This week, Direction met to discuss server hosting, factions-survival future, and other topics.

  • MonMarty worked on server maintenance and roleplay updates.
  • LumosJared reviewed roleplay systems.
  • Derpadillo performed plugin instillation, testing, and configuration on the test server and individual direction for Quest staff.
  • QGMK hosted Survival Staff meetings, completed Direction paperwork, and performed individual direction for Game staff.


Game

This week, Game has been working on several projects:

  1. Chat filter has been reset to its previous settings. We are currently evaluating as to what our future changes to it may be.
  2. Work on the interactive tutorial is open to both staff members as well as players. If you would like to be take part, please check out this document detailing more information.
  3. Weakness potions have been reduced to deal 50% of their vanilla damage.
  4. A new channel, Factions News Live, has been made in the Survival Discord! Our Newscasters include Lumbo, ninja124r, Viscar, and darkstone.
  5. Our Spooktober celebration is nearing! Check out our Build-o-Pumpkin event on the 23rd, and our Halloween PvE event on the 30th.
  6. As per usual, we are continuously assisting our playerbase via tickets (60+) as well as rule enforcement.
  • BlueChaos aided players, trained Game members, worked on the Halloween PvE event, and worked on [REDACTED].
  • Rahm_Kota aided players, enforced rules, completed trainings, and worked on the faction leader tutorial.
  • Skhosh aided players, enforced rules, and worked on [REDACTED].
  • QGMK aided players, handled appeals and reports, investigated players, made plugin configuration changes, and monitored TPS lag.

PR

  • Femma upkept social media posts. Did the PR Roundup and Podcast coordination. Helped lore out with a Spooktober post.
  • Seoulmate worked on the Staff Trick or Treat event, the lore-item revision for the crates and posted to social media
  • FlossyBerryRene did some podcast editing. Hosted a speed-run on Saturday.
  • Wan_Xia worked on some RP ambience and 3D modeling for entities.

Quest
Indyfan, Iyyiushi, and derpadillo all worked on Ezekiel Event quests this week.

Tech
CS_Birb, Fourthirteen, and XVW worked on sieges and MRaces. Check out the progress of Sieges in the #sieges-updates channel of the survival discord.

World
This week, the final steps towards completing the MassiveRaces Dungeon builds were made, marking the project as done. World has largely gone back to its common tasks like Roleplay region decorations.

  • WaterDruppel worked on the lobby for the MassiveRaces Dungeon and made all the schematics. Also wrote a guide on how to use all the Dungeon Tiles, along with working on regular event setups.
  • SpunSugar worked on the lobby for the MassiveRaces Dungeon.
  • Bunemma decorated Mainstreet shop buildings and started working on the Sewer Dungeon build request.
  • Yigit did the interior for shops in the Emporium and on Mainstreet.

Lore

Lore Updates:

We have made the further decision to fold Archipelago progressions into the other progressions for a single unified order system. There are going to be some major interaction changes in nobility, most importantly above all: An indefinite end to inter-state wars as a permanent iron-peace will come about, with the scope of politics shifting from nobles invading each other to expanding the Empire and invading foreign nations. We want to move the Progression system away from constantly pushing players to compete and aggrieve each other, to cooperation and enabling other players to explore their global involvement.

Retconning the term “Spirit” to be the term for an old Ailor Pagan god. Next Unionist to use the term Spirit gets bonked over the head and sent to horny inquisitor jail. Beware heretics and apostates.

The Calderliga Culture has been rewritten from the ground up, with essentially 8.5 pages (4500 words) of new content replacing the old.

Notable changes:
-Their shared history with the New Regalians is completely removed. They are no longer an offshoot, but an equal branch that went more conservative and economic than reactionary and militaristic.
-Lifestyle and Customs is completely overhauled. Patriarchy is dead, Syndicates are in.
-Lots more economic powerflexing on the powers that be.

We are making a small amendment to the kill-perm rules, called the “Monster clause” This clause is as followed: “If your character is excessively mutated to the point that (in the review of Staff) they are nearly or exactly indistinguishable from for example Void Monsters, that Guards (of either Regalia proper, or any of the Boroughs like New Crookback) can request Lore Staff Rank 3 for permission to have Character-Kill Permissions”. This would result in the guards having the right to request Kill-Perms on a Character that is wandering around Regalia while being so excessively mutated that they might as well be a Void Monster or Demon.

This has several reasons:
– It is powergaming to force guards not to act with the interest of Regalia in mind. Guards need to protect the city, and Guards also need to not get into a dialogue with a monster to see if it is sentient, and even then, sentient monsters are known to be manipulative and deceitful. All guards would reasonable pull out weapons and try to slay a monster without asking questions, and ignoring dialogue.
– It is power gaming to assume excessive mutations do not result in outright Cancer for your character. Mutations are magical energy re-writing your character’s dna. Excessive rewriting of dna will eventually lead to further mutations and endlessly dividing cells, and your character would ismply die of being over-mutated. Remember that in lore, 90% of the people who are mutated don’t develop beautiful and horny mutations that make characters attractive but just get cancer and die.
– Minecraft skins are horrible at translating data. You cannot code on your minecraft skin that your character has 20 limbs with worm-like hands and a centipede shaped head with moth feelers and skeletal wings. You just have 8×8 wide pixels to work with on a face, and cannot reasonably code everything you design onto a skin and then pretend that because nobody ever picked you up on it, that it’s fine.

World System Updates:

– The World/Occult Progs are going to be looked at, I’m most likely going to merge them, and then revise how World Progs are done. The manual re-release will follow before the current events are over.
– I want to take another look with BIlly at how tokens are earned or how they are accrued. Family possession of Tokens is probably fine, but I’d like to create a form of government finance tokens as well that give opportunities in Progressions, but also meaningful choices like “do I fund this guy or that guy’s plan, or risk financial trouble if I fund both?”.
– The Imperial Court positions will all be wiped out and reset, this means everyone loses their Imperial Court positions and associated Title Weight, and the positions will be reconfigured, some positions will not return and some new ones will be made etc. Also re-releasing court etiquette rules on the Wiki.
– Government remains unchanged. The Faction politics system is still in effect, and meetings will resume after the Progression is over. Billy and I will start processing Noble Applications again at the end of the Events, as some have come in, in the meantime.
– Activity as a marker for Title Weight will not negatively affect Title Weight for the first cycle. This means that until next month 15th of so, not having roleplayed your noble will not negatively affect your Title Weight. That being said, if you as player have not been on the server at all, whether on an alternative character or side-gig for the last month+ during the events, I believe there is a level of disgenuine community attachment there that should not be rewarded by just picking up where everything was left off. Players won’t be punished for not being around, but they won’t be rewarded either with these so called “crutch points” that off balance the lack of roleplay lines for those who did stick around.
