Factions Player Guide

Welcome to the Factions Player Guide! This comprehensive resource is your go-to reference for mastering the intricate mechanics and strategies of the Factions plugin on MassiveCraft’s Minecraft server. Whether you are a seasoned faction leader or a newcomer seeking to establish your dominance, this guide will provide you with valuable insights and tips to navigate the world of factions with confidence.

What are Factions?

The Factions Plugin allows players to group up within a common faction and private chat channel. Factions can claim land as their own, set their own diplomatic relations, pool money in the faction bank, and build a base protected by an anti-griefing permission system. Faction leaders control who can edit their land, open chests, use doors, and more! By setting relations unique to your faction, you can declare war and forge alliances to build your faction’s legacy!

Joining a Faction

To join a Faction on MassiveCraft, we recommend asking for an invitation to recruiting factions in recruitment chat. To type in recruitment chat, type r: followed by your message. For example, type r: Are any factions willing to recruit me?

/f is the base factions command.
/f list lists all factions.
/f show {faction name} shows faction information.
/f player {player name} shows player information.
/f join {faction name} to join a faction you have been invited to.
/f leave to leave the faction you are in.
/f home teleports you to your faction home.
/f map displays the territory map relative to your location.
Type F: to talk in your faction-only chat.

Creating a Faction

Creating a faction is free! We recommend exploring the /worlds in game for a location you would like to settle on the /map. Alternatively, type /wild to teleport to a random wilderness location!

/f create {name} creates a new faction with specified name.
/f name {new name} renames your faction.
/f desc {description} sets your faction description.
/f motd {message} sets the message of the day your faction members see when they log on.
/f sethome sets your faction home to your current location.
/f unsethome unsets your faction home.
Type F: to talk in your faction-only chat.

Recruiting Players

Recruit players to build up your faction and gain power to claim more land! A new recruit is automatically placed at the lowest rank in your faction, and you can promote them over time as they gain your trust.

Type R: to talk in Recruitment Chat to advertise your faction.
/f invite add {players name}
invites a player to your faction.
/f invite remove {player name} revokes an invitation to your faction.
/f invite list list invited players to your faction.
/f kick {player name} kicks a player out of your faction.
/f title {player name} {title} set player’s title. Use formatting codes for color.

Protected Factions

If you wish to build, roleplay, or exist within your faction land without worrying about being raided or killed, turn your faction into a Protected one! Members in a Protected Faction cannot be hurt by any players while in their claimed land! The downside is Protected Faction Members cannot PVP anywhere in survival worlds, making them easy targets outside their land. The Protected status is simply a flag that can be turned on by faction members with permission to do so (explained below).

To Protect your faction, type /f flag set protected on.

  • The Protection will activate 1 hour after typing this command.
  • There is a 1 month cooldown between successive uses of this command. Be sure you want to turn it on!

To remove your faction’s Protection, type /f flag set protected off.

Claiming Land

Faction land is claimed chunk-wise. A chunk is 16×16 blocks spanning all the way from bedrock to sky-limit. Faction claims must be 5 chunks apart from another faction.

A faction can claim as many chunks as it has claim power. The faction claim power is the sum of all faction members’ individual claim power. Each player has 30 potential claim power, meaning that a faction with 10 followers could have up to 300 claim power. A player loses 6 power upon death and regains 6 power per hour outside of Regalia and the survival world spawns.

/f seechunk visualize the chunk you stand in.
/f territorytitles toggles entering faction land between a large screen title and chat message.
/f map displays the territory map relative to your location.
/f claim base command to claim a faction territory chunk.
/f claim one claims the single chunk you are in.
/f claim auto claims chunks as you walk around. Type the command again to turn off.
/f claim fill if you claim in a circle, use this command to fill in the center.
/f claim square {radius} claims a square with desired radius.
/f claim circle {radius} claims a circle with desired radius.
/f unclaim base command to unclaim faction territory.
/f unclaim one unclaims the single chunk you are in.
/f unclaim auto unclaims chunks as you walk around. Type again to turn off.
/f unclaim fill unclaims all the land connected to the chunk you are in.
/f unclaim square {radius} unclaims a square with desired radius.
/f unclaim circle {radius} unclaims a circle with desired radius.
/f unclaim all unclaims all your faction land.

Relations

The default relation between your faction and another faction is neutral. This relation can be changed using the relation commands. The ally and truce relations need to be mutual to take effect. The enemy relation is, however, one-sided. If another faction wants to be your enemy, you will be enemies whether you want it or not. You can set custom permission in your factions for your allies, truces, and enemies to keep your faction secure.

Allied Factions are close friends. You are prevented from PVP against them, and you may speak to them in a special Alliance Chat by typing A: in game.
Truced Factions
are friendlies. You are prevented from PVP against them.
Enemy Factions
have declared that they are outright hostile to you and are likely to attack.

/f ally {faction name} sends an ally relation wish to a desired faction.
To accept the invitation, type the same command using their faction name.
/f truce {faction name} sends a truce relation wish to a desired faction.
To accept the invitation, type the same command using their faction name.
/f neutral {faction name} sets a neutral relation with a desired faction. This is one sided.
/f enemy {faction name} sets an enemy relation with a desired faction. This is one sided.
/f relation list lists all relations between your faction and others.
/f relation wishes lists all relation wishes your faction has sent to other factions.

Ranks

There are four different faction ranks by default. They are: **Leader (400), *Officer (300), +Member (200) and -Recruit (100). The syntax for a faction rank is {prefix symbol}{Rank Name} (priority level). Higher priority levels indicate higher ranks. When a new player joins your faction, they are automatically placed at the lowest priority rank, default Recruit, which has a – prefix symbol and 100 priority level.

/f rank list lists the ranks, symbols, and priority levels in your faction.
/f rank show {player name} shows what rank a player has in their faction.
/f rank set {player name} {rank name} sets a player to a rank.

Creating New Ranks

You can create custom ranks with unique symbols and permissions in your faction!

/f rank edit create {rank name} {priority level} {prefix symbol} creates a new rank in your faction with desired name, priority, and symbol.
/f rank edit delete {rank name} deletes the specified rank in your faction.

You can also edit the name, prefix symbol, and priority level of existing ranks:

/f rank edit name {existing rank name} {new name} renames a rank in your faction.
/f rank edit prefix {rank name} {new prefix} changes the prefix symbol of the specified rank. Get creative with your prefix symbols!
/f rank edit priority {rank name} {new priority level} changes the priority level of the specified rank.

Faction Bank

Each faction has a balance of regals (server money) in the faction bank. The money commands can be used to check and transfer money in various ways. Certain actions cost money, such as claiming a new chunk costs 1 regal. Use /money show to display your personal regal balance.

/f money manage faction regals (money).
/f money balance shows faction regal balance.
/f money deposit {amount} deposits desired amount of regals to your faction.
/f money withdraw {amount} withdraws desired amount of regals from your faction (if you have permission).
/f money ff {amount} {from faction name} {to faction name} transfers desired regals faction –> faction.
/f money fp {amount} {from faction name} {to player name} transfers desired regals faction –> player.

Flags

Faction flags allow you to manage the flags of your faction. By default, only the leader has permission to edit their faction’s flags.

Use /f flag list in-game or see below for a list of all possible flags:

NameDescriptionDefault
openCan the faction be joined without an invite?no
protectedAre the members of this faction protected from PVP in their land?no
monstersCan monsters spawn in this faction's territory?no
animalsCan animals spawn in this faction's territory?yes

Managing Flags

/f flag set {flag name} {yes/no} sets the specified flag to yes or no in your faction.
/f flag show {flag name} lists the status of all flags in your faction. You can also view this by typing /f show.

It is important to note that there are many flags which are only available to staff members. We use these to create spawnzones, warzones, host events, and more!

Permissions

Faction permissions allow you to manage the players, ranks, relations, or priorities that are allowed to perform certain actions within your land.

Use /f perm list in-game or see below for a list of all possible permissions:

Managing Permissions

/f perm set {permission name} {rank name} {yes/no} grants or denies a specified permission to a specified rank.
/f perm show {permission name} lists all ranks which have access to the specified permission.
/f perm viewall {rank name} lists all permissions granted to the specified rank.
/f purge {player name or faction name} if you are suspicious of a potential player or faction, use this command to purge them of all permissions granted to them. If used on a player, it will kick them from the faction.

It is important to note that the {rank name} option in the above commands will accept player names, other faction names, and other faction ranks, which means you can grant permissions in your faction to anyone, even if they are not in your faction!

The /f access command is a special way to grant individual chunk access to players and factions. It is not essential information, and we will not discuss it here. If you would like an explanation from a staff member, feel free to make a ticket on our discord by directly messaging the Ticket? DM Me! bot. We suggest avoiding using the access command if you do not understand it.
